ACARA submission: Inquiry into the use of generative artificial intelligence in the Australian education system

The House Standing Committee on Employment, Education and Training adopted an inquiry into the use of generative artificial intelligence in the Australian education system on 24 May 2023 following a referral from the Minister for Education, the Hon Jason Clare MP.  

ACARA’s submission focusses on how the new v9 Australian Curriculum can be used to teach students about the key mathematical, scientific and technological concepts that underpin the development and use of artificial intelligence, and to provide opportunities for discussing its ethical use.


Higher NAPLAN expectations and simpler, clearer reporting to parents in term 3

In the coming weeks, parents and carers across Australia will receive NAPLAN Individual Student Reports that more clearly and simply show their child’s NAPLAN achievement against the higher national standards agreed by all education ministers earlier this year. 

Consultation opens for the next 4 Australian Curriculum: Languages being reviewed

The next phase of the Languages curriculum review is underway. ACARA has released proposed revisions to the next 4 Australian Curriculum: Languages (Chinese for Background and First-language learners, Classical Languages Framework, Classical Greek and Latin) for public comment.

Public feedback is sought via the consultation website http://www.australiancurriculum.edu.au/consultation/languages/ from 4 July to 12 September 2023.
