Technologies

The Draft Australian Curriculum: Technologies draws together the distinct but related subjects of Design and Technologies and Digital Technologies. It will ensure that all students benefit from learning about and working with traditional, contemporary and emerging technologies that shape the world in which we live. In creating solutions, as well as responding to the designed world, students will contribute to sustainable patterns of living for themselves and others.
Draft Foundation to Year 10 Australian Curriculum: Technologies
The Draft Australian Curriculum: Technologies Foundation to Year 10 is open for public consultation from 19 February to 10 May 2013.
The draft curricula for Design and Technologies and Digital Technologies are published online through the Australian Curriculum consultation website. This website is designed to enable users to provide feedback through an online questionnaire. Users will first need to register to access the curriculum and questionnaire. The curriculum can also be downloaded and printed.
This consultation period also provides an opportunity to give feedback on the overarching aspects of the Technologies learning area (including the learning area Rationale, Aims and Organisation of the Technologies learning area). ACARA encourages participation from all stakeholders with an interest in technologies.
Following consultation, the draft Australian Curriculum: Technologies Foundation to Year 10 will be revised. A draft will be available for public viewing from September while the curriculum is finalised for ACARA Board approval. Subject to Ministerial approval the final Technologies curriculum will be published on the Australian Curriculum website in late 2013.
