We work with schools and school authorities to collect data underlying the broad range of school information published on My School. Major updates of My School take place in early March each year.
As part of the work to update school information on My School each year, we present some school data to principals for review. This is done via the 'Principals' Portal' section of the My School website.
Collecting student information
School and student information is accessed by ACARA from numerous government and non-government agencies, as well as directly from some non-government schools. When we contact a school to request student background information, we are required to provide a Privacy notice for distribution to students' families. The notice explains what kind of data we request from non-government schools and how the data are managed.
